The Present Time

Well, now that you know some of our past history, I suppose we can talk about the present!

Both Chris and I are insanely busy with school right now! We have just under 2 weeks left of classes, and then the following week is full of finals! A very stressful time for both of us, but it's times like these that we're so grateful to have each other to lean on for support. I know I can speak for both of us when I say I wouldn't be able to survive the stresses of school and life without him by my side. I sure hope he feels the same way. ;)

Other than school, we're both just working away. Chris works part-time at QuikTrip right now, but this summer he is planning on becoming a Night Assistant, which means he will be working overnight shifts. Luckily, he is good at sleeping during the daytime. It's a great opportunity for him, and I am more than willing to support him through this time! Although I am not working right now, I am volunteering at the Phoenix Zoo! I work every Saturday in what's called Monkey Village. It's the only exhibit of its kind, where the monkeys (Common Squirrel Monkey) are free roam. They are literally, a foot in front of you. I help monitor not only the people, but the monkeys as well, to make sure everyone behaves themselves. It's a very exhausting job most of the time. I hope to volunteer more once school ends, and I'm praying that a job comes of it.

Those are the current plans for the summer! Can't forget planning some more things for the wedding, and getting everything in order! Lots to do, and so little time to do it all! :)

Our Beginning & Our Song

Since I started a blog about Chris and I, I guess I should tell the story of how we met, and how we came to be as a couple!

It was my Sophomore year, and I was currently involved with marching band, playing the flute. Chris had just moved to Arizona from California that previous summer, and also decided to join the marching band (he was a Junior). When we started practicing for the upcoming season, we both ended up having the same group of friends. He hung out with my friends Marcos and Justin, who played Trumpet and Trombone, and after some time, everyone started hanging out together. This period of my life, I was what you would call "territorial" perhaps. I was very protective of my guys friends, and of our precious little group. I guess I thought it was one of the greatest group of people in my life, (all 6 or 7 of us were best friends), and so when a new person would come into the group, I usually got jealous and a little protective. I was also what you might consider the "leader" of our group of friends.

So here is this new guy, Chris.. who kind of just marched (no pun intended) into our group, hanging out with my friends, drawing the attention away from me.. So understandably I was a little jealous. Well, I somehow dealt with my feelings, and after a couple months, Chris earned my trust, and he was a welcomed member of our small group.

At that time I was dating a guy named Shawn, and so when I started to have some small feelings for the former-enemy Chris, I was way confused and tried not to think about it. Eventually, I told my best friend at the time, Marcos about my little crush. He swore not to tell anyone, and he didn't. For about 3 or 4 months, I went on with life. Chris and I were friends, I was still dating Shawn, even though my feelings for Chris grew more and more.

Well, time went by and Shawn and I eventually broke up. I was heart-broken, and turned towards my friends for love and support. (Oh, I should add in here what a great friend I was during the time of Prom. Chris liked Nikki (now my bridesmaid!), and wanted to ask her out to Prom. I helped Chris with thinking of an idea to ask her, even though I really liked him. They did end up going to Prom.. but more on that later!) Because this was the time of Prom, my now ex Shawn and I were planning on going together, but of course since we broke up, we didn't go. Instead, he ended up taking another girl to Prom two weeks after we broke up. What a jerk!

Anyway, it was around this time that Chris kinda got a wiff that I was interested in him, and started showing more signs that he was interested in me as well. Well, since Prom was a bust for me, Chris decided to plan a little surprise. Our group was hanging out one day in May 2005, (I believe at an arcade), and we were all heading back to my parents house to hang out. Justin and Chris decided to drive separately, and I dropped off Nikki at her house, then headed back to mine. Chris and Justin were no where to be seen. 30 minutes went by, and still no Chris or Justin. I went inside to wait for them, when finally they showed up. I came back outside, and Chris was standing outside his car, holding a homemade corsage for me! He swiftly said, "I know that you didn't get to go to Prom, but I was hoping you would have this dance with me." He placed the corsage on my wrist, and Justin (they planned it so smoothly) turned on "She Will Be Loved" by Maroon 5 in his car. Chris and I danced in the middle of the street on that May night.

After that night, we were inseperable, hanging out almost everyday over the summer. And finally, on August 2nd, 2005 at Band Camp in Flagstaff, Chris asked me to be his girlfriend. We have been dating ever since, and now we're getting married on October 24!!

So, I know it was a long and tedious story, but that's how everything came to be! Chris and I will be dancing our first dance as husband and wife to the same exact song we danced to on that May night almost 4 years ago. So when we're at the reception for our wedding, and you here "She Will Be Loved" by Maroon 5 playing, you'll know the story of that song. :]

Introduction

Welcome to the new blog I made for Chris and I!

The main purpose of this blog is to share our experiences with those we love in our lives. I want to document our lives not only before we get married, but afterwards as well. Hopefully this blog will give an inside look into our chaotic lives, and share laughs, hopes and sorrows with you all.

Chris and I have had such an adventure over the past 3 and 1/2 years. It's been an amazing journey with him, and I have never loved him as much as I do today. Through our short life with each other, we've gone from enemies, to friends, to best friends and now forever companions. That's why I named this blog "On Our Journey to Forever".. I think that name suites both Chris and I, and our relationship as a whole. We've come such a long way, and now we're on our way to being together, forever.

So please, check back to this blog often so you can see what Chris and I are up to, and how the wedding plans are coming along. I'll try my hardest to update this daily with our ever-busy lives, and our amazing adventures together. :]
